It has been a very quick and full week.
On Wednesday, the 7th, I had the 11:00am Mass and then went to the “retired priests” gathering at John Vianney house. It was, as always, good to see the guys. A few new guys came and the group is now about 17.
As soon as that ended, I got in the car and drove to Maggie’s to spend the night.
On Thursday, the 8th, we (Maggie, Marie, JoAnn, and I) headed to Myrtle Beach. Rick has arranged for three time shares. The girls had one, he and I had one, and his son, Wayne and his wife, Valerie and their six kids (ages 12 to 11months) had the other. We had such a good time. The weather was great (in the 70’s) and we used the outdoor pools. We saw a couple of the Christmas shows and had some meals out (Rick makes a great breakfast). 5 of Rick’s friends also came by and Rick and Anita (Marie’s son and daughter-in-law) who live in Columbia, SC came and camped nearby. We had Mass in one of the suites (no collection). It was a real family celebration just like Maureen loved (you could feel her there).
The girls and I sent out thanks you for the Masses and cards we had received (Rick had done that from home). It was so nice to read the messages of comfort – and they really were!!
We left on Tuesday, and made a stop in Wilmington, NC to see Patty and Peggy Kirk, old friend who moved there about 5 years ago. They have a lovely home and we had a nice visit. We got home around 8pm and so I just drove back to DC after dropping them in Dunkirk. I was in bed by 10:30pm.
I slept in on Wednesday and had the 11:00am Mass. I spent the day unpacking and relaxing. I read my emails (140) and took care of my phone messages and went to bed early.
Thursday is now my “Day Off”. So today, I just hung around my suite and made a brief visit to the office. I am now heading over to the rectory for supper and another early to bed.
I’ll try to be more faithful to a daily message.
Thanks for the update on your week! Sounds like a wonderful visit!!
Glad to here that it was in the 70’s down south. Maybe we will be able to swim when we go to Disneyworld next week! glad you had a good time.
