I am in the rectory and cannot get on to Paddy; so I shall begin this today (Sunday, January 24, 2016) and try to post it when I get over to the parish center.
On January 6th, I left out of Baltimore for a 10 day cruise on the Grandeur of the Seas of the Royal Caribbean Line. It was three days down, 4 stops in the islands, and 3 days back. There were 20 of us travelling together. My two sisters and three of their lady friends from Sothern Maryland, two of Marie’s classmates since grade school, Fathers Bob Norton and Tom Kredel from Pittsburgh, Sister Kass and a couple from her parish and a friend since grade school, Joan Beall and her daughter, Sharon, Anna Marie, a friend from St. Bernard’s, Pat Berry from Chicago and his brother and sister-in-law from West Virginia. I had a nice surprise as a couple from St. Michael’s was also on the cruise. We were 22 at Mass, which we celebrated on Saturday night in a conference room. I think everyone had a good time and I’m sure that now as we “endure” this snow storm, the memory is a good one. I was ill most of the trip but still had a good time being with this group.
I have been in my suite since Friday and have been dealing with my intestinal problems. Fr. Ron has covered all the Masses and has insisted I just stay home. Our cook left us all kinds of meals when he left on Thursday and so I have been having soup. I have a doctor’s appointment on Thursday and I hope to get some answers about my stomach.
Yesterday (Monday) I did the 11am and the 5:30pm Masses. Fr. Ron led me over and back. Today, he came and got me for the 11 and I’ll just stay here till the 5:30pm
I was suppose to have a funeral at Arlington tomorrow but it has been postponed. Schools are still closed and so is the parish office. We may not be open on Wednesday either. They did plow Quesada so I guess life is returning to some semblance of order. I have a doctor’s appointment on Thursday and will write when I get his prognosis.
