FEAST OF ST. LAWRENCE 8.10.17

Over the last few days, a number of people have said to me that they were concerned about my health since they hadn’t seen anything on Paddy for almost a month. I am writing what I think will be a short message to allay any concerns.

I’ve been hanging around my suite much of the time as we had a couple of heat waves and rain. Neither does my breathing much good. Also I am tired. I can fall asleep right after Jeopardy and might sleep through to 7am. I am blessed that – at least for now – I don’t have to get up and use the bathroom during the night!

I have been on the phone a lot. Speaking almost daily to Father Trancone, Joan Beall, Maggie, and the Cavallaro’s.

Father Trancone had cataract surgery and has not had an easy recovery BUT it seems to be progressing now. Frank Cavallaro had a fall and has been in the hospital or rehab much of the last few week. Marilyn was visiting him daily but now has pneumonia and is limited. He is a bit confused and doesn’t know why she and he are not together at home. Fr. Jim Beattie is also ill and back at Georgetown hospital. It’s still the leg. Maggie’s (and my) friend, JoAnn had a slight (according to her) heart attack. She is recovery but back at “On Our Own”.

I also “caught up” with Fr. Tom Kredel, Pat Berry, Kate and Bill Kredel, Pat Sinclair, Anna Marie Kinerney, and the Petrones. Joe Stoutz , Fr. John Bohrer , and Fr. Carmen and I have talked. I really don’t like the phone; I’d rather see people but its hard to get out. I am using Uber and went to a funeral at Little Flower – where I saw some Good Counsel people; I also went to Collin’s for Peg Sampogna’s wake and saw lots of friends from Camillus. Had some nice meals with Barry and Barbara, and Father Jim and his brother Paul, and a couple of lunches with Joan Ward. Also had a nice lunch with Fr. Pat Lewis from Little Flower. He had assisted me at the funeral and drove me home. He and Fr. Alec are friends.

I’ve stsaying in my suite except to do Masses. I had a great wedding last week and was taken to the reception by Colleen and Monty. Saw a lot of SD Catholics there including Sister Agnes, who came down from NJ. The Petrones pick me up when they are taking Fr. Trancone out, so I really don’t do much.

I’m sorry if my failure to write worried you! If I were ill, you’d be informed!

Keep me and all my intentions in your prayers. Like Bradon, whom I baptized last weekend. Know that you all are prayed for daily.

Oh, I forgot!! August is the months of lots of birthday. Yesterday was Mary Ann Pearson, my niece and God child. Today is Tom DuBusky. On the 5th, was Maureen’s. She was 70 and missed by all of us. Now I have to go!

Hi Father, was very happy to see and read your lastest blog. I was hoping you were on one of your family trips. Sorry to read that you were having health issues again. I also suffer with heat, because of COPD. I was in hospital for 4 days in July with bronchitis, flair up of COPD. I’m home and was released today from the home nurse visits and PT. I pray that your health in proves so that you can continue doing your daily routine. God Bless you!!!
    Your blog friend,
    Gloria
