TUESDAY OF THE FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT

The train trip to Philly was very easy and I read most of the way. John and Terry met me at the station and we drove to Joe’s. On the way, we stopped for a visit at the Miraculous Medal Shrine. I’d never been there and I enjoyed it. John is slowly showing me all the Shrines of Philly. Last trip we went to see Mother Katherine Drexel’s shrine. He knows them all!!
We picked up food and took it to Joe’s. He is getting around better but still has some pain. He had gone to the doctor’s earlier in the day and the doctor told him to stay home another week. He doesn’t want to miss more school but the doctor prevailed and he called and sent in work for the students. He isn’t sleeping well but then he won’t use the pain pills – you know me, I loved Tylenol with codine! I think he might try it at night. We had a great visit – and watched a very delightful DVD that Terry had on the Sisters of St. Joseph in Orange, California. Joe took a nap. at 6pm, Terry and John took me back to the station and I made the 7:00pm train. I read church history on the way home and got back to the rectory around 9:45 and went to bed soon after.

I had a great night’s sleep and didn’t awake till 9:00am. I came to the office and found that there was a group of students touring the church. They were from The Jewish Day School and Good Counsel. Joan asked if I could go up and answer questions. I was happy to do it and I think the kids found my being there a help. After that I had the 11:00am Mass and then (although I forgot it had been moved) we had our Tuesdays with Father Maury. November had 5 Tuedays and so that’s why I was confused. They had to call me and remind me. Our topic was the changes that occured this weekend in the liturgy and what we experienced in the changes 40 years ago. It was very interesting.
Then I took a nap.
At 5:30, Andrea came and we discussed some material from RCIA. Jim Beattie called me and invited me to join him and Tom Duffy for dinner at 6:30pm at D’Carlos’. John Clark also joined us and we had a great time. I just got home and I am ready for TV and bed.

I hope the doctor told Joe he will heal faster by taking the pain meds. My dad could tell him how necessary they are!!!
